A Garden Spruce up in Chailey
The owners had been thinking about putting their property on the market, but realised that the garden was definitely a negative rather than a positive selling point. After an initial consultation with us, they could see that the garden had a lot of potential, and so they decided to go ahead and give the front and back gardens a much needed revamp.
They now have a gorgeous outdoor space, and like it so much that they are rethinking whether to sell. However, if they do decide to go ahead the gardens will give them the best possible chance of a good price for their property. Now that’s a win-win!
The first job was to take out this massive and mostly dead Lleylandii hedge. Not only was it ugly and took up space, it completely dominated the garden so it had to go.
The Lleylandii have been cut down, the next stage was to grind out their roots and remove the dilapidated fence.
Now that’s better! There’s so much more space now, and a brand new close boarded fence with a Laurel hedge in front look fantastic.
The rest of the garden was also in desperate need of some TLC…
… and so we cleaned the patio to bring it back to life. We then built raised beds around it, which were planted up with cottage garden plants, as this is what our client wanted, and they look great. The 20mm beach pebbles around the patio finished it off nicely, and once the garden had been cultivated, graded and turfed the garden was nearly complete.
We built further raised beds all along the new fence. There were a couple of stunning mature palms already there, and so we worked around them creating a planting scheme of Phormiums, Fatsia, Rosemary and a selection of grasses to create a Mediterranean feel in this part of the garden.
The front garden was also looking very neglected, but once planted up and turfed, it gave the house a welcoming and attractive entrance; or as Kirsty and Phil would say, “kerb appeal”.
