Decking and a Path in Blackboys

From the outset our clients had had a very clear vision of how they wanted their garden to look, and to help them budget for it they had broken what would have been a huge project into 4 more manageable ones. We had originally built them an enclosed raised vegetable garden.  Then we took down an enormous Lleylandii hedge and erected a very long fence for them in its place.

The Story

We were therefore very pleased to be invited back for a third time in almost as many years, on this occasion to build a deck. It was huge at 4.5m x 11m but it needed to be so that it was in proportion with the house and also to allow for access on to it from 2 different rooms.

You can see part of the fence we built last year as well as the drab patio that was already there.

Ah yes, it rained…  And then it rained some more. In fact it rained so much that at one point we considered building them a pond rather than a deck, but a few drainage channels later and we carried on - it takes more than a deluge to deter Rob!

Despite the weather we finished the deck, and to blend it in with the garden we built raised planters on all sides and made them ready for planting.

We also built a Limestone path leading from the deck around the back of the house and along the front too.

Before we could do this however, we installed drainage along the path line to prevent it flooding again, and recessed a manhole cover to blend it in. Last but not least, we planted up the raised beds with feature shrubs.
