Landscaping in Horley

This was a good sized garden backing on to open countryside, and was a blank canvas just crying out to be transformed, so we were very happy to be asked to landscape it.

The Story

The patio had already been built but our clients wanted us to create raised beds and a deck where they planned to sit and enjoy both their gorgeous new garden and the view. Nothing but dirt and weeds at this point.

Work is well underway and the outline of the design is becoming clear.

We made the raised beds using new softwood sleepers and lined them with waterproof membrane to protect them and so prolong their life, before infilling with topsoil ready for planting.

Our clients love gardening and wanted to design their own planting scheme, but this is a service we offer for those not so keen or knowledgeable.

The base for the deck and walkway was built by concreting in the posts and securing the timber framework to them making it very sturdy and long-lasting especially as all our wood comes with a 15-year guarantee. As a finishing touch, we also installed lights into them to bring them to life at night as well.

These show the garden from a couple of different angles to give an idea of finished design. Once the hard landscaping was complete we put down a new turf lawn which sets off the features beautifully. As it went down during a dry spell it was really important to water it to keep it alive.

The final touch was a pebble area, which looks great as it is, but it could also be planted up with grasses and other low maintenance plants to add texture and interest. Whatever our clients decide to do, it will be low maintenance thanks to the double layer of sheet membrane underneath the stones preventing weeds coming through.
