Landscaping in Broad Oak

This was a lovely large garden with stunning views of the surrounding countryside, and the main aim was to make the garden as easy to maintain as possible but the client also wanted some features to make it more interesting.

The Story

We suggested a long, low raised bed to create a divide in the garden, and one at the top of the garden to bring the scheme together.  The client agreed and we set to work.

This bed had become very overgrown and the low brick wall was falling down, so it made sense to take it all out and place the raised bed here.  We always line these with waterproof membrane to protect the timber before filling with topsoil and planting them up.

This is where the ground sloped up and so we also put in a couple of steps to lead from the patio up to the top lawn.

The top area of the garden was overgrown, featureless and fairly dull so we built a triangular-shaped raised bed in the corner, which tied in nicely with the other bed.

Well, well, well what have we here then?

Sorry, but I just couldn’t resist it. It’s not something we know much about so we got the experts in to rebuild an old well in the garden and restore it to its former glory.

It’s always a priority for us to find contractors who take as much care on a job as we do, but this was a real labour of love for the team and they did an amazing job.

This is just to show you the well in context with the rest of the garden after the turf had gone down.  You can just about see one of the trees we also planted to add height to the garden.
