A Curved Wall in Buxted

You may remember we built a deck and jetty over a pond earlier this year, which was a first for us but we really enjoyed the challenge. We even managed to stay dry!

The deck looked fine on its own and it was what the client could afford at the time.  However, the plan had always been to build a wall to surround it, add height and generally finish it off and we were recently asked to go back to do just that.

This is how we left the deck and jetty in April this year.  We had emptied out some of the water to work on the jetty, but it’s nearly up to the base of the jetty now so it looks like it’s floating.

The framework is in place and the shape of the wall is becoming apparent.

Once all the timber was in place and correctly aligned, each plank was concreted in and when this had set the framework was taken down leaving a very simple but elegant curve.  The area inside the wall was then dug over and topsoil and compost were incorporated before putting in the plants.

Because we had done the deck and the wall in 2 stages our client could afford the denser planting scheme he was after to give an immediate impact as well as a few more mature shrubs to give height and structure. We just hope the rabbits don’t take a fancy to all the delicious new plants!
