A Pagoda, a Putting Green and a New Lawn in Buxted
We would have no hesitation in recommending “The Sussex Gardener” to anyone that needs a garden transformation.
Thank you to Rob for a magnificent job on our garden. Everyone who knew the garden before now can’t believe the transformation, from a moss filled boggy “lawn” shaded by half dead fir trees and rhododendrons, into an immaculate lawn that is bright and surrounded by fine old Oak trees who now have room to grow properly.
Rob worked tirelessly from early until late on the garden accessed only via difficult steep banks moving tons of gravel, topsoil, rocks and turf to create a place that will be enjoyed by us for years to come.

“Rob has transformed my garden form the standard new build turf and a few trees kind of place to a paradise of flowers, woodland area, lush grass and a restful retreat. Working with Rob on the design and build of my garden was an absolute pleasure. His craftsmanship, attention to detail and his absolute love of gardening was fabulous and inspiring.
I loved the fact that he used local suppliers and a local nursery for all his materials and plants. I now have a restful and tranquil space to sit and chill and admire my garden and visiting wildlife.
I would have no hesitation in recommending The Sussex Gardener to anyone looking to transform their outdoor space.”
A Garden Revamp in Haywards Heath
"Rob managed to transform the small jungles that were my front and back gardens from an embarrassment into a source of pride and enjoyment. He worked tirelessly during his time here and always with great care to attention to detail. Always friendly and cheerful, Rob kept me informed throughout the landscaping process and left the grounds neat and tidy at the end of each day.
The new gardens have drawn numerous compliments since their completion, but best of all was this quote from an old friend of mine: "He (Rob) isn't a gardener. He's an artist!"
He is indeed, and for others in desperate need of a garden makeover, I cannot recommend Rob and 'The Sussex Gardener' highly enough".

“Once again we would like to thank you for the wonderful garden design. It has enhanced the front garden tremendously. We are still getting loads of comments from our neighbours about how beautiful the garden is.
As always my neighbours are extremely impressed with your skill, craftsmanship and dedication to your work ethic. Every day my neighbours would take notice of how you were progressing in the project, and it seems that you are quite famous in our road!”

“To say we are delighted with Rob's makeover of our garden is an understatement. It is utterly superb and has been much admired. Rob's very hard work, craftsmanship and attention to detail has created a tiny paradise which I have trouble believing is actually our garden - particularly bearing in mind how it looked before!”

“We both just wanted to say a huge 'thank you' to Rob for the superhuman effort he put in to our garden… I am particularly pleased with all of the plants: all nice healthy specimens who all seem to have settled in well and started to grow in their new home.
Rob was simply amazing and we are so pleased he did our garden, from the simple but effective design to the precise and professional (and friendly) execution. Rarely have I been so pleased to pay for something - it was worth every penny.”

Drainage near Tunbridge Wells
“Rob was brilliant. He had great ideas about how to sort out the jungle around our barn and manage the drainage to solve the damp problem inside it, which gave us real confidence in our small project.
When the work started he arrived right on time with all the right kit and worked unbelievably fast. I was astonished at how much stuff he managed to shift in such a short time!
The final result looked great and is standing up to some fairly punishing weather. We will definitely be calling you again when it’s time to take on the next patch of wilderness! Thanks for all the hard work.”
Garden Clearance in Lewes
"Unlike some other firms we contacted Rob completely understood where we were coming from and had excellent knowledge and expertise.
He has brought the garden back to life. We are thrilled, and we bet the original owners would be too. It is a big garden and Rob sorted it in a week. We have never seen one man work so hard and with such dedication in a garden.
I think he must love it as much as we do! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.”

A Landscaping Project in East Grinstead
“We moved into our house two years ago and knew that the back garden needed a lot of work. It needed clearing and starting again. I searched on line for a local landscape gardener and The Sussex Gardener caught my eye - along with photos of his work. Rob came round to have a look and we liked him straight away. More importantly, so did our dog Rosie! Rob talked to us about what we had in mind, and gave us a scale drawing of his design. After some discussion we had agreed a price and a start date.
Before starting work Rob went round to introduce himself to our neighbours, which they appreciated. During the course of the project we made a couple of adjustments and Rob a couple of suggestions. All the work went to plan.
Rob did all the work himself - from clearing the site to carpentry and planting. We have been so impressed with the results. In particular we liked the curved wooden feature. Our garden is beautiful and even casual visitors comment and take pictures. The plants and flowers attract bees and butterflies. We just love the space.”
Landscaping a Large Garden in Crowborough
“It was so hard to envisage what our sad, neglected, overgrown garden could look like.
From the beginning, Rob understood what we hoped for and, throughout the project, he worked so hard to make sure that it was turning into a garden that we could love. He was a joy to have around - always cheerful, always working, and never complaining - even when the garden turned into a quagmire after a week of rain!
The transformation is incredible! Rob has incorporated all the quirky features that an old property has and made the 'new' garden fit around them.
And he took into account that we are not totally dedicated gardeners by choosing plants and trees that even we can maintain properly!
Everyone who visits is amazed - it is as though we have a new home. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending The Sussex Gardener.”
"Their knowledge of planting, careful yet rapid workmanship and ability to use all garden machinery, along with their reliability and total integrity has materially helped transform a derelict property of eight acres into a show piece which has already been featured on TV and in magazines."
