A Cobbled Drive in East Grinstead

This was a job for some previous clients who asked us back to do something about their very old, uneven and narrow drive.  They loved our idea of using rustic cobbles for the new drive as opposed to standard block paving and we started work at the beginning of September.

The old, overgrown drive made for a very gloomy entranceway to the house.

We took up the block paving and took down the wall so that we could dig out the bank and widen the drive.

Looking up towards the house whilst work was underway.  Once the drive was widened, we built sleeper retaining walls up the entire length of the drive.

The cobbles complete with a contrasting edging are down and a vast improvement on the original.  We also tidied up the beds running either side of the drive and added extra shrubs.

Looking down towards the road, you can see the woodland shrubs we planted which will give more privacy once they have grown.

The finished result – a welcoming new cobbled driveway complete with sleeper retainer wall and woodland planting.
