Landscaping Project Near Battle

This was one of the largest projects we have ever undertaken and together with our other regular work commitments it took nearly 12 weeks to complete. It was a labour of love for us so we’re delighted that our clients absolutely love their new garden.  If we’re honest, we’re pretty chuffed with the results too!

The Story

This is before work began - the patio and all the walls had to come out and the rubbish taken away.

The area cleared and a decked seating area at the end of the house was the start of the transformation.

The puzzle starts to come together with raised beds outlining the new terrace and decks.  Steps leading down to the garden were built into the beds.

The second deck is built and the slate patio is going down.  We used different materials and levels to break up what could have otherwise been a large, bland expanse of deck.  It also helps to define the areas of use and the slate contrasts beautifully with the decking timber.

The first stage of the project finished, and all the plants have gone in to give it the finishing touch.

We used subtle colours in the planting scheme and plants that will add interest and foliage all year round to soften and bring life to the hard landscaping. We also installed deck lights and spotlights directed at feature trees; and because our clients liked this idea so much they asked us to use almost double the usual amount.

The end result is pretty spectacular because at night it’s lit up like a Christmas tree!

This is the seating area at the end of the house and the walkway leading to it. In between all the hard landscaping, we erected a new fence at the back of the garden, tidied up the existing beds, laid turf, and also cut down a couple of trees to open up the view and let more light in.

So just when you thought it was all over, there’s more!  The 2nd phase of the project begins with the construction of a walkway leading to what will be a circular patio.  This area catches the evening sun and so we wanted to capitalise on those rays for our clients!  The circular timber wall not only looks great but also provides privacy and shelter from the wind.

The finished walkway draws the eye up to the patio and we used a planting scheme to tie in with beds around the deck.

Imagine a couple of chairs and a table here, so our clients can sit out and enjoy the evening sunshine - you can almost smell the Pimms!
