A New Build Garden near East Grinstead
This was a perfect blank canvas and we were delighted when our clients chose us to bring it to life for them.
Our original design included one of our curved walls with a second seating area at the top of the garden to catch the sun there in the evening. However, Covid had just struck and like many people at that time, our clients understandably had to be cautious about the budget. We pared back the design for them and you can see the result below – a gorgeous and welcoming outdoor space to enjoy with family and friends. Given the events of recent months, that is more precious than ever now!
A regular new build garden of grass and fence.
The patio has been taken up, the lawn stripped and the raised beds built around the perimeter of the garden.
Patio and path built but yet to be pointed up. We used a Brazilian slate which contrasts beautifully with the timber of the raised beds.
In goes the drainage system. As with many new build gardens there was all kinds of rubble and rubbish left by the builder lurking beneath the grass. This and the clay soil meant that the lawn became water logged every time it rained heavily. The drainage we installed will prevent this happening in future.
We believe the devil is in the detail, and take huge pride in that. Things like the capping on the raised beds, and the border of slate shingle and timber edging around the patio finished the scheme beautifully.
We chose some taller, more mature trees and shrubs to add height to the garden and create privacy in the coming years. Each of these was up lit to bring the garden to life at night. The scheme using smaller Euphorbia and Lavender as well as the taller Photinia, Acer and Silver Birch was simple but very effective.
